Play Climate Bingo During the Election Debate!

Power Up Canada -

Just in time for the debates, PowerUP Canada is releasing a Climate Bingo Card with handy ‘bobble head blotters’ of all five leaders so that you can distinguish good policies from good PR in the debates this week. Download your bingo card and a handy guide to the issues and listen closely to see who is proposing a modern economy, green jobs and climate leadership. Let us know you played and tell us your results by emailing tzeporah_berman@powerupcanada.ca and receive a free PowerUP Canada t-shirt.

The debates will be broadcast on Canadian radio and television.

* French debate: Wed. Oct. 1, 2008, 8 to 10pm EDT
Moderated by journalist and host Stéphan Bureau.

* English debate: Thurs. Oct 2, 2008, 9 to 11pm EDT
Moderated by Steve Paikin of TVOntario.

Leaders are being scored on whether they are committing to stronger laws to fight global warming. Bingo scores are being given to new investments in clean energy, public transit, carbon sequestration; matching leading vehicle and building standards; and whether they will drop the phoney debate between green taxes and cap and trade systems.

Last week PowerUP Canada sent a letter sent to all five party leaders asking them to respond to six critical climate questions that will enable Canadians to clarify who has the strongest commitment to addressing global warming. PowerUP Canada will be releasing their responses next week.

PowerUP Canada is a new national citizens initiative that has a positive new vision for Canada, and provides Canadians non-partisan information about global warming and a common campaign to amplify citizens’ voices, clarify federal parties’ and candidates’ climate positions, host public events and build an online networking community. Encourage your friends and family to join PowerUP Canada.
