Some Green Stimulus But Where's Green Power?

Jim PrenticeDear PowerUP Supporter,

The federal budget last week was a head scratcher. The government certainly heard your call for green stimulus to build a new energy economy – the language was prominent and several programs were announced.

But, even with all the money being sprinkled around, they did not fund the program which supports renewable energy.

At the same time that Obama is warning of irreversible catastrophe from global warming and seizing the opportunity to create green jobs – by doubling green energy in the next three years and proposing upwards of $50 billion in green stimulus – Canada opts to slow down and give jobs away.

It is all so hard to believe that I think we should be contacting the Environment Minister to get an explanation and demand that he read the riot act to his colleagues at Natural Resources Canada who administer the program. After all, it was only a few weeks ago the government gave a throne speech promise.

What could they possibly have been thinking by not funding the ecoENERGY for Renewable Power program and how do they plan to rectify the situation?

Here's our link to the kind of plan the government should have implemented.

Let's keep pushing!
